You can’t keep a good FPS down, and later this very year, Splitgate 2 is coming back out for another try. After a controversial launch and an ongoing revamp in beta, the shooter will be re-released, though a set date is unknown.
As much is stated in an update from developer 1047 Games. “Thank you to everyone who participated in the Splitgate 2 Beta! On December 4th, the Beta Season & active Battle Passes will be ending, alongside your seasonal ‘rank’ progress,” the post reads.

The shooter last came out in June 2025, garnering a wave of criticism due to over-priced microtransactions, gameplay issues, and an unfortunate choice of hat at Summer Game Fest, prompting the studio to pull it back into beta for a revamp in July. Changes have been gradually rolled out, tweaking the gunplay and fine-tuning the whole experience, and they appear to be paying off as recent Steam reviews are now mostly positive.
The full launch was originally set for sometime in 2026, meaning 1047 has managed to come in ahead of schedule, which is always nice to see. A bouncy sci-fi FPS in the vein of Halo, Splitgate’s central gimmick is the use of portals to jump around the map, opening a whole level of chaos and strategizing.
“The past six months have been a journey, and every piece of feedback, every playtest participation, every community discussion has shaped where we are now,” says a post on the official site regarding the final playtest. “Splitgate is in the best place it’s ever been, and that’s because you’ve been here with us.”
