The Grow a Garden pet age break mechanic is a unique system that arrived alongside the Smithing event, allowing you to make your favorite pets even stronger. However, it isn’t easy to do and requires quite a bit of investment to pull off.

In this guide, we dive into where to find and how to use the Grow a Garden pet age break machine, including the requirements, how much it costs, and what it can do for you, your garden, and your pet pals.

What is the Grow a Garden pet age break machine?

The pet age breaker allows you to combine an age 100+ pet with another duplicate pet in order to increase the pet’s level by one past its max age. This feature arrived in the 1.32.0 Grow a Garden update, alongside the Smithing event.

Where is the Grow a Garden pet age break machine?

The pet age break machine is located to the left of the pet shop in the corner of the map. It looks like a blue glass tank with a pipe coming out of the side, a bone icon above it, and a sign saying ‘pet age break’ on the top. It also has a sticky note attached to it saying ‘Lvl 100+’.

How do I use the Grow a Garden pet age break machine?

To use the pet age break machine, you must submit a pet that’s level 100 or higher, along with at least one duplicate of that pet. Once you’ve inserted both pets, you must wait for one hour and 30 minutes.

After that, you can claim your pet, and it will have one level above the previous maximum. Keep in mind that the machine will use up the duplicate pet, though, so you won’t get it back at the end.

Is the Grow a Garden pet age break mechanic worth it?

Whether the pet age break mechanic is worthwhile depends on the pet and your personal circumstances. Naturally, it takes a very long time to level up a pet to 100, and each level increases the effect of the pet’s skill.

Most of the time, it’s only worthwhile getting the best pets from the top of our Grow a Garden tier list all the way to the level cap. However, a lot of the best pets are event-exclusive ones with high rarities, meaning that you only have a small chance to get them during limited-time events.

This makes them very difficult to get, and therefore they’re worth a lot of sheckles when it comes to trading. As a result, it’s quite a costly system to have to lose a duplicate of these super rare pets in exchange for just one level.

As such, we think this is only really worthwhile for long-time players or people who spend a lot of Robux in the game, and are willing to part with expensive pets for a small passive boost.

Alternatively, it could be worthwhile if you particularly like a lower rarity pet that you have a lot of duplicates of – but it will mean keeping them active and well fed in your garden for a long time, as reaching level 100 with them takes ages, even with the use of various Grow a Garden gear items.

Either way, we highly recommend checking out our full guide to all the Grow a Garden pets to learn about their different abilities and how to age them up, so you can make an informed decision before parting with a whole heap of items and sheckles.
