Despite her character’s untimely death in Resident Evil Village, Lady Dimitrescu actor (and Golden Joystick Awards 2025 host) Maggie Robertson is keen to return to the franchise as the iconic villain.
I don’t think there’s much you can say about Resident Evil Village’s Lady Dimitrescu that hasn’t already been said. Despite Capcom’s series turning 30 next year, from the moment she was revealed, the big vampire lady – who would go on to get about two hours of screentime in the actual game – instantly became one of the most iconic characters in the entire series, both due to how terrifying a presence she is, and also how much fans were instantly attracted to a 9’6″ vampire with claws for hands.
Speaking to The Gamer, Robertson was asked if she thinks Capcom regrets killing off her iconic character (not that that’s ever mattered in Resident Evil), and while Robertson says, “I can’t speak for them,” she personally thinks it’s exciting “that a character that wasn’t in the game for that long was able to have such a huge impact. It’s a really positive thing.”
Robertson continues to say, “We really found something with [Dimitrescu].” The character was only in Resident Evil Village for a short while before her death, but Robertson is impressed by the fact that “she still managed to build this really loyal following. We did something right.”
The interviewer asks Robertson if she thinks Capcom will bring the character back for a future entry in the series; Robertson explains that, if she is given the chance to return as the monster, “The answer to that is always going to be yes.” But Robertson says she currently has no idea about what Capcom plans to do with Lady Dimitrescu.
“I’m just a lowly actor,” she says. “I’ll find out when you do.”
Resident Evil 1 devs were so insistent on having action mechanics like charged attacks and sidesteps that director Shinji Mikami let them do a test run, but it just made killing zombies look silly and not scary
