Is the Duolingo owl threatening Paimon from Genshin Impact?
During the Luna III livestream, Hoyoverse announced a mysterious upcoming collab, stating that Paimon has received an unusual letter that somehow made the famously greedy fairy lose her appetite. While we didn’t get much in the way of information, upon closer inspection, I can’t help but question whether this is a teaser for some kind of Genshin Impact Duolingo collab.
I know, I know, it sounds wild, and I may well be on entirely the wrong track, but hear me out. In the livestream for the upcoming Genshin Impact 6.2 update, our four adorable chibi hosts rounded things off with a piece of out-of-game news, announcing “a new collab is coming our way”.
Venti’s EN voice actor, Erika Harlacher-Stone, set things up, explaining that “Paimon received a mysterious letter from an unknown source, and it left her trembling. Apparently, she couldn’t even finish her usual helping of Sweet Madame.” Scandalous.
Following this, we got a glimpse of a brief animation showing Paimon’s hand holding up a letter that says, “Hi Paimon, Good news! You’ve successfully enrolled in a 3-day language course. Complete the course and you’ll unlock a surprise reward bundle! But if you drop the ball… an ‘unimaginable’ punishment awaits.”

Duolingo is one of the most popular language apps out there, offering courses on 42 different languages. As such, the mention of a language course immediately points us in its direction. However, it goes deeper than that.
Even if you’re not chronically online like we are, you’ve likely heard of (or at least seen) Duo, the iconic green Duolingo owl by now, and you might’ve heard about his antics. While he may appear cute at first glance, he’s always up to something, and anyone who’s used the app knows how threatening he can be when you dare to drop your learning streak – so it seems incredibly in-character for this feathery fiend to intimidate our traveling companion.
I also couldn’t help but notice the bright green feather quill in the background, as well as the feather logo at the bottom of the letter. All signs point towards Duolingo, and it looks like Paimon won’t get any rest until she completes her three-day streak.
The wildest thing is that this wouldn’t be the first time the two have collabed – but the last Genshin Impact Duolingo collab was significantly less threatening, with Klee and Duo teaming up back in 2024 to give us one code for Duolingo, and one for primogems in Genshin.

Either way, Hoyoverse has revealed that we’ll get more information on this collab on Saturday, December 6. This means we only have to wait two weeks before we get clarification on whether we’ll be able to get some Genshin Impact freebies by submitting ourselves to the owl overlord, or whether it’s something else entirely. I’m just hoping that learning Hilichurlian is one of the options.
But don’t stress too much, even if you don’t want to expose yourself to that ominous avian, you can always grab all the new Genshin Impact codes for some freebies – no streaking required.
