You absolutely need Gigantamax Meowth in the Pokémon Go Precious Paths update

The year might be coming to a close, but that doesn’t mean Pokémon Go is calling it quits and taking a break. Even with the holiday season upon us, it’s full steam ahead, as Pokémon Go Precious Paths promises plenty of major gifts and a few stocking stuffers worth logging in for. If you’re like me and haven’t hopped on for a little while, this could be the update to get you back on track.

Like most updates in Pokémon Go, you can always rely on a couple of highlights to get you hyped up. Just two weeks after being able to catch Dynamax Eevee in-game, Precious Paths is amping things up with three Max Pokémon debuts. Typically, special circumstances, such as Gigantamaxing or Dynamaxing, lead us to encounters at Power Spots. Now, both sides of the coin are getting some love. You can expect Dynamax Hitmonlee, Dynamax Hitmonchan, and Gigantamax Meowth across the season.

It’d be nice to get more Gigantamax Pokémon, but we’re not complaining too much. Beyond these Max Pokémon, two new Pokémon also make their first appearances: Clobbopus and Grappoloct. Sudowoodo and Charjabug are getting some delightful holiday attire too, with Sudowoodo’s Christmas tree look standing out as a highlight. Of course, there is plenty of research to do. There are two research paths to look into, actually.

According to the latest Pokémon Go blog post, Precious Paths Special Research becomes available starting Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 10:00 AM local time. For reference, that’s 10:00 am PT, 1:00 pm ET, and 6:00 pm GMT in the UK. You’ll have until Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at 9:59 AM local time. Again, that’s 9:59 am PT, 12:59 pm ET, and 5:59 pm GMT to claim it. New chapters roll out gradually throughout the Season, so keep checking your Research tab as Precious Paths rolls out.

You can also expect the Master Ball Special Research path, too. You can buy this ticket from Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 10:00 am PT, 1:00 pm ET, and 6:00 pm GMT. It’s available until Sunday, February 22, 2026, at 8:00 pm PT, 11:00 pm ET, and 4:00 am GMT on February 23. For finishing it, you’ll get the Master Ball among your rewards.
