Lies of P Overture may be an award-winning expansion, but the game’s director promises that the studio’s next project will be on a whole other level.
I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that FromSoftware owns the Soulslike genre, given it basically created it. However, when it comes to the many challengers to the Soulslike throne, I’d say Lies of P is the game that came the closest to unseating the studio. The original game – while pretty hyped up ahead of time for its Bloodborne-esque look – took me by surprise by just how fire it was (I never finished it mind you, but late 2023 was so packed I’m sure that can be forgiven).
Asked what fans of the game can expect from Lies of P co-developers Round8 and Neowiz in the future, Choi says “you can expect the most fun that we can achieve within the game,” asking fans to “please stay tuned for it; we are working really hard, and I will not disappoint you at all.” Granted, it’s not clear which of Neowiz’s multiple projects (including a full-fledged Lies of P sequel) Choi is talking about, but after Lies of P I’m excited to see anything from the developer.
