The introduction of Sidekicks into Fortnite isn’t too game-changing, but I can’t deny that having a pet follow me into a firefight is amusing. Beyond the addition of Peelsy, Epic Games is dropping more pets into the Item Shop, but one of them is especially worth considering spending some V-Bucks on: the Bonesy Fortnite Sidekick. This cutesy canine companion is a loyal friend to Jonesy, and not every player needs to spend money to get him.

You may remember Bonesy from Fortnite’s past. In fact, he might already be part of your Fortnite skin collection. That’s because Epic Games’ original intentions for him were just to include the Bonesy Back Bling in-game, a cosmetic that some players could earn in Chapter One Season Six. However, this Black Bling is exclusive to the Battle Pass for that update, and it’s long gone from the hit battle royale game. If you already own it, though, it’s great news.

Any player who already owns Bonesy from the Chapter One Season Six Battle Pass is instantly granted the new Bonesy Sidekick in-game right now. There’s no redemption process or Fortnite codes you need to redeem. You literally just need to boot up the game on your Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, or handheld PC. Before you load up the Dashboard containing your recently played modes or Fortnite Creative maps, a prompt telling you the Bonesy Sidekick is in your locker will pop up on-screen.

But what about those of you who didn’t get the chance to claim the original Bonesy? Well, you’re not left out of the fun. You will need to consider parting ways with some V-Bucks, though. In the latest Item Shop update, you can find a range of different pets to add to your Sidekick roster. This includes Doggo Jr, Cuddle Team Jr, Flopsticks, Lil’ Raptor, Spike, and of course, Bonesy. If you fancy adding the first three Sidekicks to your locker, they’ll set you back 1500 V-Bucks each.

As for Lil’ Raptor, Spike, and Bonesy, these Sidekicks are slightly cheaper at just 1200 V-Bucks per pet. Like the rest of them, you can use Bonesy in standard battle royale, Zero Build, LEGO Fortnite Odyssey, LEGO Fortnite Brick Life, and Fortnite Festival. Yes, your Sidekicks can appear on stage with you while you shred guitar or smash drums on the latest Jam Tracks. You won’t find your Sidekicks in Rocket Racing, and that’s probably for the best.

You can grab Bonesy here from the Item Shop, and he’s available until Friday, November 21, 2025. With Fortnite Chapter 7 leaks emerging, there are more companions to come, including a Fortnite Krypto Sidekick.
