It’s worth pointing out that Amazon is being a little cheeky here claiming this is a $40 discount – that’s compared to Space Marine 2’s list price of $69.99, but the game hasn’t cost that much on the storefront in a few months. Even so, that still means this is a pretty substantial discount on a really solid game – we gave it 4/5 stars in our Space Marine 2 review – and it’s one of the best Cyber Monday gaming deals I’ve seen so far. For those in the UK, Asda and Argos are both offering the game on PS5 or Xbox Series X for under £20 too!
Should you buy Space Marine 2?
Whether you’re a Warhammer 40,000 fan, old or new, or are just a fan of third-person action games, then this is a fantastic opportunity to get Space Marine 2 for as cheap as possible. It’s a great combination of classic third-person shooting with relentless and bloody combo-based melee combat, letting you slice up hordes of Tyranid aliens with a chainsword or blast them with a Bolter. It even just got a free update last week, adding more cosmetics and a new Operations mission with a new Tyranid Prime enemy.
But, bear in mind that co-op play is a huge part of Space Marine 2. While you can play the game’s campaign solo, it’s definitely a good idea to play it with friends, and it’s even more important to team up with some pals if you want to really get into the co-operative Operations mode. Hopefully you’ve either got friends that own the game already that you can join or you can convince two friends to grab this deal too.
Finally, if you follow the tabletop wargame at all, you might be familiar with the upcoming 500 Worlds campaign, which will see Space Marine 2 protagonist Demetrian Titus take center stage as the Captain of the Ultramarines’ 2nd Company once again. That it’s worth playing Space Marine 2 (and the Secret Level short film) to get some useful context on Titus’ story between Space Marine 1 and the upcoming campaign.
