New VR game for Meta Quest 3 is basically Battlefield Bad Company 2, and I can’t wait to play it
As much as I like most of the Battlefield series, Bad Company 2 remains one of my favorite FPS games ever made. The intense, cooperative action of a match felt like it was perfectly paced, and even though later games enhanced the same destructive combat, it never felt just right. However, Forefront’s inspirations are clear, bringing a Battlefield-style experience for those looking to play a new VR game.
While it’s too quick to judge whether it’ll be one of the best VR games already, Forefront already has a promising premise. Developed by Triangle Factory of Breachers and Hyper Dash fame, the company already has plenty of experience behind FPS titles, and while the full launch is set for next year, you can already play Forefront on the best VR headsets in early access.

There’s a fair amount of first-person shooters in VR, but Forefront is a fairly spectacular attempt at bringing that Battlefield formula front and center. With 32-player matches in semi-destructible maps, you can choose between one of four classes – Assault, Engineer, Medic, and Sniper – and battle it out with your squad in an attempt to reach victory.
Something that Battlefield nails and what elevates it from a standard shooter to one of the best multiplayer games is the destruction. Being able to destroy a wall and take away an enemy’s cover is a satisfying feeling, and one that Forefront nails, much like the 2010 classic Bad Company 2. However, being able to feel like you’re holding the guns that can tear apart concrete with ease makes it feel even better, and Forefront is a true action game in that regard.
While it’s not available as a full game just yet, you’re able to grab Forefront in early access from the Meta Horizon storefront for just $19.99 / £19.99. You won’t have to buy it again when it’s fully released, so that means you can test out all of the weapons and become a true VR soldier ahead of the final launch.
