Fortnite Sidekicks set to get Superman’s best friend Krypto, take my V-Bucks now
Fortnite Sidekicks are only a few days old at this point, but I already love them. Wandering around Evergreen Terrace in Fortnite‘s rendition of The Simpsons, with my banana-kanine Peels? The stuff of legend. More trusty companions are coming to the game, and that includes the addition of a Krypto Fortnite Sidekick, based on Superman’s extraordinary buddy.
Well, Krypto belongs to Supergirl, but that doesn’t mean he can’t hang out with Kal-El in the Fortress of Solitude. Either way, Krypto’s arrival in Fortnite is meaningful for a couple of reasons. Firstly, who doesn’t want a pet? And more importantly, it means Warner Bros. and DC Studios are making an effort to continually add more themed Fortnite skins to the Item Shop.
According to Fortnite scooper ‘HYPEX‘, Krypto is flying into Springfield across November. You’ll have quests to complete before you can add him to your locker, though. The leak alleges Krypto sports two emotes and two cape styles, switching between ‘normal’ and ‘icy’. I doubt he’ll have powers like his last foray in Fortnite, sadly. It’s unknown whether Krypto is an Item Shop bundle or an unlockable character, but there’s a possibility that he could be both. Let me explain.
You could only purchase some bundles, like Darth Jar Jar Binks, for example, after completing certain quests relating to the character. Given that David Corenswet’s version of Superman headlined the Battle Pass in Chapter 6 Season 3, I wouldn’t put it past Epic Games to lock Krypto behind a couple of layers. In my opinion, anyone who owns the new Superman skin should get him automatically, but that’s just a pipe dream.

Fortnite Sidekicks are a very young feature, debuting with Chapter 6 Season 5. Anyone who owns the current Battle Pass gets access to Peels, the first pet to accompany you in-game. There’s something that’s both wholesome and worrying about Peels – or Paul Blart, as I’ve named him – following me into the fray. Sure, he loves it when I emote, but he also gets to see rival players obliterate me. Harrowing stuff.
Like I said earlier, though, this is huge for DC Studios. Marvel characters are all over Fortnite, with everyone from Spider-Man to Blade getting their time to shine in-game. It’s no secret that back-to-back flops in the form of Black Adam, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and The Flash put a serious damper on DC Comics’ big-screen reputation, after all. I’m hoping that Superman and Krypto are the start of some excellent cosmetics, especially with Supergirl landing in movie theatres next July.
Before Krypto swoops in-game, there’s a lot to catch up on. Here are the latest Fortnite patch notes, the best Fortnite guns to use, and everything you need to know about the Fortnite map in C6S5. Don’t forget to grab this free Fortnite Kang and Kodos Glider, too.
