Hoyoverse is on an absolute roll this year as it reveals yet another upcoming title: Varsapura. The Genshin Impact developer must be super busy as they’re working on three new games, along with constant updates to their already gigantic roster.

It’s in a completely different style to what we’ve seen from Hoyoverse so far. While the recently announced Honkai Nexus Anima uses the same anime style, and Petit Planet continues with a similar – albeit more chibi – design, Varsapura is totally unique. It’s made in Unreal Engine 5 and has much more realistic aesthetics for most things, aside from characters’ faces, which are still a little anime-like.

You can watch a 31-minute-long demo on the newly created Varsapura YouTube channel to get a feel for what’s in store. The main character enters a large building and attends an interview with SEAL – the Shadow Emergency Alliance. Here, things get weird as the screen blurs and lights flicker. It’s almost giving Silent Hill as the character wanders through a dark, eerie setting.

Fast-forwarding a bit, we get a glimpse at the combat involved here. Stealth seems to be key, and you can sneak up and bash enemies from behind. As for weaponry, it seems like an umbrella is the starting choice, which you can use to jump and glide, too. The big bad then appears, and is a black goop called ‘Mindrot’, reminiscent of Death Strandings’ all-encompassing Tar. It fills up the location you’re in, and you’re not supposed to touch it.

By the way, you can actually drive in this game – the demo shows off characters causing chaos in a car by running into tables on the sidewalk, and then doing donuts in an intersection as they respond to a call. Ananta has competition, it seems.

For now, not too much is known other than the combat and setting. You can swap characters, so it likely has some system to get new ones, be it a gacha or a limited roster that unlocks during gameplay. You can keep up with official updates on the game’s X account.

We’re very excited to see where this game goes, including which platforms it comes to, and when it might release. That said, we’re also keeping up with information on the Petit Planet release date and Honkai Nexus Anima release date.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
