I can’t believe this Roblox game is getting a movie before Fortnite
Movie adaptations or TV shows for videogames are becoming more and more common, with season two of Amazon Prime’s Fallout show arriving next month and the recent arrival of Splinter Cell on Netflix. Well, despite the popularity of adaptations, I can’t hide my surprise that Roblox’s Grow a Garden game is getting a movie, especially as we’re yet to see something as huge as Fortnite get that sort of treatment.
The iconic battle royale is ripe for a movie or even a TV show, yet Epic Games doesn’t appear to have such plans at the moment, instead focusing on epic collaborations like the Fortnite The Simpsons take over, which has currently transformed the Fortnite map into Springfield. I have to admit, it’s a blast seeing some of my favorite characters running around. It almost feels like The Simpsons Hit and Run, but with guns – yeah, okay, that sounds an awful lot like Grand Theft Auto.
Still, the adaptation potential for Fortnite is huge, with years of history behind it and a whole heap of characters to use. It also seems like a perfect excuse to throw out more skins (not that Epic is exactly shy of dishing out new outfits). Personally, I think a TV show is more suitable, but I’ll happily take Epic getting some inspiration from the supposed Hollywood influences due to arrive in-game, according to recent Fortnite Chapter 7 leaks.
As for the upcoming movie for the hit Roblox game, Deadline dropped the news, revealing that Story Kitchen, formerly known as DJ2 Entertainment, is at the helm. It’s certainly exciting, as the production company is making quite the name for itself in the videogames adaptation space, with projects including the Sonic movies and Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft.

We don’t know much about what the film entails just yet, as it’s in early development, but as Grow a Garden is quite a cozy game, I can imagine that this motion picture will be full of charm. It certainly seems that now is a good time to dive back in; if you do, make sure you use our Grow a Garden codes guide to snag some freebies.
