As rumors of a The Sims 4 remaster circulate, its community gathers to question what EA could actually be planning โ after all, we’re talking about a life sim that’s still receiving new expansions to this day, with more yet to come.
The Sims 4 Adventure Awaits literally only just launched in October, with massive updates to the base game following close behind. Shortly before Adventure Awaits, we also saw fairies finally come to the 2014 life sim in Enchanted by Nature. There are also (likely countless) other DLC drops planned for The Sims 4, as EA said in the past that it has no plans for a Sims 5 โ with the fourth entry acting as a sort of “forever” game that developers improve over time.
RUMOR: EA is working on The Sims 4 Remastered ๐ฅ from r/LifeSimulators
“It should’ve been The Sims 3,” comments one such player. A valid assertion, if you ask me โ especially as The Sims and The Sims 2 both got their own re-releases recently. Another fan amusingly chimes in, “Sims 3 is the forgotten child at this point.” Elsewhere in the replies, someone argues, “Making the base game free, then releasing a remastered version of a game still in active development would be a new low, even for EA.”
A separate post on the remaster rumors shows similar thoughts from other Simmers. “I’m just baffled, honestly,” somebody writes. “Unless they are remaking the game from the bottom up, what will they be remastering exactly? The graphics are great โ the style has helped it stay timeless, and they’re still releasing DLCs. Sims 3, I could understand. But you don’t remaster a game that is still actively ongoing.” They’re not wrong.
There’s no telling what EA actually has in store for The Sims 4, but as a longtime fan of the life sim series myself, I hope it’s not a remaster โ unless that remaster is of The Sims 3, that is. Then we’d be talking, and it seems other fans would agree.
