The Warframe Android closed beta is officially open, but you’ll have to get lucky

After pre-registration opened in July, the Warframe Android closed beta is finally open. The first wave of invitations has gone out, prioritising those who did pre-register – but don’t worry too much if you didn’t get your email, as the second wave probably won’t be far behind. On the closed beta FAQ page, the Warframe team states that the plan is to roll out more open beta slots, as long as the initial beta “goes smoothly”, and the Warframe devs are keen to get your feedback.

So much so, in fact, that if you don’t access the Warframe beta after receiving your invite, you risk losing your spot altogether. The FAQ page notes that “access may be revoked from accounts who have been inactive for an extended period of time or have not partaken in the closed beta at all.” Keep a close eye on your email, including junk, in case you’ve missed your invite. The purpose of the closed beta is to share your feedback on the Closed Beta forum page, so if you have comments or concerns, you can head there to let the team know.

Currently, the closed beta supports a relatively short list of Android devices, but the plan is to expand this list with any further waves of invitations. You can find the current list of supported devices here, which is, sadly for some, mostly full of the best Samsung phones, leaving my Tecno phone in the dust. Also, as previously noted, you won’t be able to use voice chat or any cross-platform saving or playing features in the beta, but these should come out with the full release of Warframe on all Android devices.

Be mindful that your closed beta progress is deleted at the end of the testing period, but as of just yet, we don’t know when that will be. The Warframe team promises that it’ll notify us on its social pages plenty before the close date, which we’d guess implies that we’ll know between a few weeks and a month in advance. That means the beta is likely to stay open through to the new year at this point, so there’s still plenty of time for invite waves after this initial one. You can still register here to be in with a chance of accessing it.

In the meantime, Warframe is available on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and PC, among other platforms, so you can continue to enjoy the full launch on those systems if you own them. If the impending release of Warframe Android is making you worry about your phone’s specs, you might want to consider upgrading to one of the best gaming phones, perhaps as a present to yourself for the holidays.

We will be happy to hear your thoughts
