If I had to blame one game for eating all of my free time the last few years, it would be Vampire Survivors, without a shadow of a doubt. As one of the best indie games to suddenly land on my phone and my Steam Deck, it’s both a blessing and a curse, one that I regret picking up solely because of how great it is, and how much time I’ve spent. Now, I have a new way to play it, as Vampire Survivors VR is shadow-dropping today on Meta Quest 3 headsets.

Spawning a variety of inspired copycats, Vampire Survivors is unmistakably brilliant. Starting with your choice of a bunch of characters, each level builds up in tension as you slowly upgrade your arsenal, combining them for more powerful gear that eventually wipes out the hordes of evil chasing you. Or, perhaps you’ll succumb to them – that’s just the way it goes sometimes.

That same chaotic fun, with a core experience undeniably perfected, remains with the Vampire Survivors VR port. Rather than just a 1:1 recreation of the original, the new experience is slightly twisted, with a diorama-style version of the action that you can experience in the comfort of your home, your crypt, or a voxel-based surrounding.

Exclusive to the Meta Quest 3 family, which remains some of the best VR headsets on the market, Vampire Survivors VR is well-priced (almost a steal), much like the original version. It’s available for just $9.99 / £7.99 on the Meta Horizon storefront, and it includes the Tides of the Foscari and Legacy of the Moonspell expansions. I won’t lie, but I wish that the Castlevania DLC also made an appearance in this version, but hopefully it will soon.

Despite the slight change in visuals, that core gameplay still hooks you in, and I’m not going to lie, I’m very concerned that – while I won’t be glued to my phone anymore – I may be stuck inside a VR headset. Is that an upgrade – sure, I’ll take it. Although I am worried about my productivity if a Vampire Survivors port makes its way to the upcoming Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses.

Vampire Survivors VR is available now as an exclusive to Meta Quest 3 and 3S, and honestly, you’re in for a great time.
